DOCS COME TOGETHER TO TACKLE THE OBESITY CRISIS
Being overweight or obese can not only hurt your image, but your health as
well.
(Collegeville, PA) – September 10, 2010 - "Do you want
fries with that?" is what millions of Americans hear when going through
the drive-thru of many of the fast food restaurants. As one would
imagine, people who eat fast-food burgers, fries, and milk-shakes would be more
prone to the obesity crisis then those who don't. While there is some
truth to this, there are other avenues that need to be tackled as well.
"I was one of those people who would stop and get a burger and fries
while rushing around during my lunch time because I had little time to do
anything else and was hungry", said Dr. Douglas Swede, a local chiropractor
and certified health coach with Take
Shape for Life. "I know how to eat healthy. I was even
going to the gym, but was not losing the weight I wanted. Then I learned
of a great program that helped me to successfully drop the weight and keep it
off. That is when I started to coach others, including some of my
patients to do the same.", further explained Swede.
Take Shape for Life, the coaching arm
of Medifast, a Fortune 500 company,
employs doctors and health coaches to work with individuals who are looking for
a life-changing program that will not only help them to lose significant
weight, but to also learn how to keep it off. Dr. Swede and his
colleagues who are also Take Shape for
Life health coaches, Dr. Jeff Snyder, Dr. Hank Finkel, Dr. Andrew Harris,
and Dr. Christopher Galeotti are joining forces deliver an eye-opening weight
loss program in our community. "Everyone can stand to lose a few
pounds, but with obesity being an epidemic and projected to substantially
increase over the next 10 years in the United States, we feel it is our
obligation to hold a public forum where others can successfully learn the
strategies for healthy weight loss and possibly reduce their diabetes, blood
pressure, cholesterol and other health-risk markers.", stated Dr. Snyder.
According to Epidemiologic Reviews, a Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of
Public Health publication, the numbers for projected obesity are
staggering. Should current trends of obesity continue, 75% of adults in
the United States
are projected to be overweight and 41% obese by 2015.
The doctors will be presenting a seminar called "The 5-Pack that helps you LOSE WEIGHT" at the Lower Providence Township Library
located at 50 Parklane Drive in Eagleville on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at
7:00pm. RSVP by 5:00pm Thursday, September 30th by
calling (610) 831-1650. For
directions to the library, call (610) 666-6640.
